Auction collection service: how it works
Found a piece you love but can’t fit it in the car? Porta helps you arrange collection without making the trip yourself. A vetted independent courier collects from the saleroom and delivers to your chosen address, locally or across the UK.
- 1
Get an instant price
Enter the saleroom’s postcode and your delivery address. Add your lots and dimensions, choose the carrying help you need, and note any stairs or awkward access.
- 2
Choose your collection day
Compare the available dates and delivery options. Choose a date within the auction house’s collection period and confirm any appointment it requires before booking.
- 3
Your courier collects
Give the saleroom your collection authority and booking details. Your courier collects the agreed lots and delivers them to your chosen address.
Book a collection that fits the saleroom
Please choose a collection date that fits the saleroom’s opening hours and deadline, and confirm any appointment with them before booking.
Eco Flex may offer a lower price if the saleroom can accommodate a flexible collection window. If your purchases need packing, crating or specialist lifting, please get in touch so we can check the arrangements with you.
Before you book
- Pay your auction invoice and confirm the lots are ready to release.
- Check collection days, opening hours and whether you need an appointment.
- Tell the saleroom a courier arranged through Porta is collecting, and ask what authority it needs.
Help your saleroom prepare for collection
Let the auction house know who’s collecting your purchases. Our collection form gives you a simple way to share your lot numbers, booking details and permission for the courier to collect on your behalf.
Download the form, fill it in on your device or print it, then send it to the saleroom once your invoice is paid. If the auction house has its own release form, use that instead. Keep its collection confirmation with your booking details.

An auction buyer’s experience with Porta
“Efficient company - they collected a chaise longue from an auctionhouse in Horsham and delivered it to me in Whitstable within a week. Good communication system, excellent value, would definitely recommend.”
Auction collection and delivery FAQs
How long do I have to collect my auction lots?
Auction collection deadlines vary by saleroom and sale. Check your invoice and the saleroom’s collection terms before choosing a date. Some require an appointment and may charge storage after the deadline. Ask the saleroom directly if you need extra time; a courier booking does not extend its collection period.
Can a courier collect from an auction house for me?
A courier can collect on your behalf where the auction house allows third-party collection. Pay the invoice, give the saleroom your written authority and check whether it needs the courier’s name or booking reference. You can download the collection form above to share these details, or use the saleroom’s own form if it provides one.
Can I have several lots or purchases from different salerooms delivered?
Several lots from one saleroom can be included in a booking: enter every item and its dimensions so the vehicle and carrying help suit the whole collection. Collections from different salerooms need a separate arrangement. Contact Porta with the addresses, lot details and collection deadlines before booking a multi-stop job.
Are auction purchases insured during delivery?
Goods-in-transit cover and claim support depend on the delivery option selected at checkout. Standard and Premium options can include Porta-arranged claim support; Essential does not include Porta-managed goods-in-transit insurance or damage claim facilitation. Check the applicable limits, exclusions and item value before booking, especially for antiques, glass and valuable artwork.
Read the delivery FAQs and booking terms for the applicable conditions.
What if my collection deadline is very close or has passed?
Contact the saleroom first to confirm whether collection is still possible and whether storage charges apply. Then check the available collection dates with Porta. A short-notice booking is subject to availability and the saleroom’s opening hours; do not assume that booking a delivery waives a missed deadline or storage fee.
